The State of Online Antisemitism in 2023

CyberWell is a groundbreaking startup non-profit that launched the first ever open database of online antisemitic content. CyberWell’s mission is to drive the enforcement and improvement of community standards and hate speech policies across social media platforms and empower existing efforts and users to eradicate online Jew-hatred with real-time data. Since May 2022, CyberWell has been consistently monitoring Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube in English and Arabic, and serves as a trusted partner for both Meta and TikTok. IHRA Discourse Analysis Pre- & Post- October 7 - Arabic

Following October 7, CyberWell detected an alarming narrative shift in Arabic toward more violent antisemitic rhetoric than usual. As part of CyberWell's ongoing methodology, we break down all antisemitic content that we vet according to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) 11-part definition of antisemitism - a consensus definition recognized by numerous countries, international bodies, and academic institutions around the world. In the month prior to October 7, 75.6% of antisemitic content referenced stereotypes, tropes, and conspiracies about Jews. In the month following October 7, 61.2% called for or justified violence against Jews.
